Gale Databases

Gale offers databases that offer information from reference sources, magazines, professional journals and newspapers from around the world. Click on the links below to go directly to that database or on Gale Databases to see the entire list.
You can access this database directly from any school computer, but will need a library card number from a public library (like Boston or Wellesley) to access it from a computer outside of school.

World Book Student

World book student allows you to search the online version of the well-known encyclopedia World Book. You have access to research tools, like homework help, a Biography Center, Current Events from PBS, Geography exploration, Trivia Quizzes and Activities, Videos and other Multi-Media Tools. From this site you can search in both World Book Student and Kids at once, as well as accessing World Book Kids, World Book Spanish and World Book Advanced. In addition, there are educator tools available for faculty.
You can access this database directly from any school computer, but from home will need to enter a username and password.

Literary Reference Center

Literary Reference Center™ is a database that provides access to information on thousands of authors and their works across literary disciplines and timeframes. It offers full text results that combines information from major respected reference works, books, literary journals as well as original content from EBSCO Publishing. There are plot summaries, synopses and overviews, articles and essays of literary criticism, author biographies, poetry, short stories, interviews and more. LRC also provies access to Encyclopedia of Literature, Continuum Encyclopedia of American Literature, Continuum Encyclopedia of British Literature, Continuum Encyclopedia of Children's Literature, The New Princeton Encyclopedia of Poetry and Poetics, Beacham's Research Guide to Biography and Criticism (six volumes), The Oxford Illustrated History of English Literature, The Literary Encyclopedia, The Columbia Companion to the 20th Century American Short Story, all of MagillOnLiterature Plus™, and much more.
